Owners of an award winning Lincolnshire chippy are to attend a street party in London celebrating the Queen^s 90th birthday as a thanks for their fundraising efforts.

Des Anastasiou and Leslie Graves who own Burton Road Chippy have been selected to take part in the Patron^s lunch at the Mall in London on June 12 after they helped raise up to £10,000 for Seafarers UK.

The party will celebrate the Queen^s patronage of over 600 charities and organisations.

Mr Anastasiou said the charity had put their names forward to be selected for the day.

He said: "It^s a massive celebration party of the Queen^s 90th birthday and it will include a picnic lunch. I think some of the royal family will be there so hopefully we will get a glimpse of them.

"We did a lot of fundraising for Seafarers UK over the past few years and they put our name forward for the event and we were lucky enough to be picked to go.

"The reason we chose to support Seafarers UK is their connection to fishermen and as we run a fish and chip shop we wouldn^t have any fish without them."

There will also be large screens which will show the action at the party at Royal Parks, Green Park, and St James^s Park.

Mr Anastasiou added that he felt honoured to be invited to the celebration with his partner.

He said: "We feel very lucky to have been picked to go and it^s an honour to go to an event like this."

The takeaway was this year named Independent Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year Award at the NFFF Fish and Chip Quality Award Champion Award.
