The Bay on the Road ‘Chips In’ with Mowat Court in Stonehaven

Article Date: 2016-06-07

In celebration of National Fish & Chip Day, The Bay on the Road surprised Mowat Court, a purpose-built care home in Stonehaven, with award-winning fish and chips for their lunch on Friday 3 June.

Working alongside Gordon, Scotland’s Sales Manager for KFE Ltd, Calum Richardson, Owner of The Bay on the Road, celebrated the national day for the fish and chip industry by giving back to those most in need in the Stonehaven community.

Residents and staff at Mowat Court were welcomed out to enjoy the sun and experience The Bay’s delicious sustainable fish and crispy chips, along with a giggle or two from The Bay on the Road team.

Calum Richardson, Owner/Chef of The Bay on the Road and The Bay Fish & Chips said:

"I like to share The Bay’s success with the people of Stonehaven as much as possible. Whether that’s through fundraising, attending or hosting events, it fills me with pride to be able to give back to my local community. Since opening The Bay Fish & Chips in 2006, National Fish & Chip Day has always been a great day to build up hype around our industry and I always love doing something special for it. This year, I wanted to make the most of our new mobile kitchen, The Bay on the Road, which launched in 2015.

"I decided to surprise the residents of Mowat Court with a spot of The Bay’s signature dishes for lunch, and I’m so pleased I did! They were so welcoming and appreciative; it really was a special afternoon. The cherry on the top came after I uploaded photos from the day onto Facebook and I heard from a good friend of mine living in Australia as his dad lives at Mowat Court. My friend hadn’t seen his dad for a long time but through putting photos on Facebook following the event he got the opportunity to see a photo of him again – it was a very touching moment.”

Mowat Court is a welcoming, purpose-built care home set in the small seaside town of Stonehaven in Aberdeenshire. They offer personalised nursing care for older people, including individuals who are living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. The home is right next door to Stonehaven’s community hospital and just a short stroll away from the Stonehaven Bay.

The Bay on the Road, an innovative family-owned mobile kitchen, not only offers street food but also caters for private events, parties and weddings, festivals and food markets around Scotland and the rest of the UK. The Bay’s merchandise is also available to purchase from the food truck, everything from branded aprons to The Bay’s bespoke batter mix.
