Police Van Parks on Double Yellow as Cops go to Fish & Chip Shop

Article Date: 2014-12-10

Traffic laws appear not to count when the police are feeling peckish – after a van with two Police Community Support Officers parked on a double-yellow while officers dealt with a fish-and-chip emergency.

The emergency being that they wanted some battered snacks.

One hungry PCSO ordered chips, while two others dealt with another emergency in a nearby cafe – buying coffee for the thirsty coppers.

According to the law, police officers are only allowed to stop on double yellows if they are dealing with a motorist or attending an emergency.

The illegally parked vanwas photographed in Ealing, west London, on Tuesday afternoon.

A 25-year-old eyewitness said: ‘It’s ridiculous – one law for them and one law for the rest of us, it seems.

‘If I parked on double-yellows, I’d rightly get a ticket. It’s disgraceful that they think they can get away with stuff like this.’

The Met Police refused to comment yesterday.
