February 26, 2025KFE’s free Open Day returns on Sunday 16th March, offering fish and chip shop owners fresh ideas to navigate rising fish prices while appealing to a wider customer base.


A key theme this year is menu expansion without overcomplication – introducing alternatives that keep costs manageable while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Guest speaker Santosh Tulachan, Head Chef at London’s Mayfair Chippy, will share how he’s successfully expanded the menu with items such as chicken fritters, scotch eggs, loaded chips and grilled fish. Mayfair Chippy has become London’s busiest fish and chip shop while its restaurant holds a 1 AA Rosette.
In addition, KFE trainers and award-winning operators Gordon Hillan and Mark Petrou will deliver live demonstrations covering the benefits of basket frying, the cost savings that come with using high-efficiency pans, frying medium management, and anticipating trends to future-proof a business.
Staying with the theme of diversifying, Unox will showcase its combi ovens, demonstrating how to bake a range of items simultaneously including pies, chicken, pizza, and even lighter options like salmon – perfect for customers seeking healthier choices.
While all this is going on, there are opportunities to test fry the latest Kiremko high efficiency frying range and meet leading suppliers, including BD Signs & BDigital, Drywite, Friars Pride, Kerry and Middleton Foods. Plus, get expert guidance on finance options from Tower Finance, network with fellow operators, and share ideas.
The Open Day is free and every attendee receives a fish and chips lunch plus a goody bag. Doors are open from 10am until 3pm at KFE’s showroom on Bentley Business Park, Northfields Industrial Estate, Market Deeping, Peterborough PE6 8LD.
