January 20, 2026As reports emerge of a government plan to extend business rates relief to pubs only, the NFFF is calling for a more balanced approach – one that supports all of hospitality, not just one part of it.
NFFF President Andrew Crook said:
“We welcome any support for hospitality, but focusing just on pubs is short-sighted. Independent takeaways like fish and chip shops are struggling with the same rising costs – if not worse in some cases. Our sector can’t be ignored.”
The Chancellor is expected to announce a package of support within days, but industry voices are growing louder, warning that targeted relief for pubs alone won’t be enough to stabilise the wider sector.
