Q) What time do the courses start each day and what time do they finish?
A) The practical courses commence at 8.30am and concludes at approx. 17.00pm.
Q) Do I need any experience of Fish & Chips?
A) The NFFF Training Academy runs a number of different courses set for all levels of experience. So whether you are new to the industry or you have been in the industry for a while , we have a course to suit you. Please contact us on 0113 2307044 for further details.
Q) Do I need to bring anything with me to the course?
A) We ask that you attend wearing comfortable clothing and nonslip full footwear – no open toe footwear, sandals, or flip flops. We will provide chef jackets, hats, and aprons for your practical. You may also want to bring a notebook and pen for any notetaking.
Q) Do I get a certificate for completing the course?
A) Yes, you will receive a certificate of completion once the course has concluded by email for you to download.

A) Details are provided of the prerequisite online courses required when enquiring/booking a practical course with the NFFF.

Q) How much are the Training Courses?
A) Please contact us for the current up to date costs of the Training Courses that we offer. When attending our training courses, you will receive essential documentation you’ll need to get your business started and we’ll send you away fully prepared with information and samples to try out in your own shop.
Q) What do the training courses include?
A) The training courses we offer provide you with an overview of the industry and teaches best practice theory and practical skills required to run a successful fish and chip shop business and beyond.
You will also obtain an understanding of the following:
- Impartial advice on equipment and products from throughout the industry
- Fully equipped training facilities including traditional and high efficiency ranges
- A selection of frying mediums and products
- Learn the HOW’s and WHY’s from leading industry experts
- Learn how to maximise your profits from the experts
- See professional demonstrations on equipment use and maintenance
- The opportunity to sit online Level 2 & Level 3 Food Safety in Catering, and a variety of other Level 2 qualifications. Information on these courses is available by contacting the training department at training@nfff.co.uk or by phone to 0113 2307044.
Q) Is there accommodation included in the Training Course fee?
A) Accommodation isn’t included in the Training Course fee.
Staying somewhere close by is advisable, Leeds is a busy city and traffic is heavy during the peak hours slowing access from outlying areas and the motorways.
We have a special discounted rate agreed with the Village Hotel North Leeds. The hotel is approximately a 20-minute walk or a 10-minute car journey from the Training Academy.
Alternatively, should you want to stay in the City Centre we are approximately 3 to 4 miles away from Leeds City Centre where there are numerous hotels to suit all budgets.
