JJ Pioneers Open Banking for In-Branch Payments

JJ Foodservice is the first UK wholesaler to offer open banking for both online and in-branch payments. After successfully launching Pay by Bank in 2022 to address rising credit card fees, the company now allows customers to pay directly from their bank accounts.

The transition to open banking, via Trustly, has resulted in significant annual savings for the national wholesaler. JJ Foodservice has now expanded its Pay by Bank option to counter payments, in addition to online payments, making it available for all transactions.

The in-branch Pay by Bank option debuted at JJ Foodservice’s new Wimbledon branch and was recently introduced to the Enfield Head Quarters. More than 55% of JJ Foodservice customers now Pay by Bank. Plans are underway to extend the service to all 10 remaining branches.
