As The NFFF Celebrates is 110th Anniversary, We Look Back at Some its Fascinating History

The NFFF is celebrating its 110th anniversary on November 11, 2023. This is a special day not only for the NFFF, but also for the nation, as it coincides with Remembrance Day.

The NFFF was founded in 1913 by a group of fish friers who wanted to improve the standards and quality of the fish and chip industry. Since then, the NFFF has been representing and supporting its members through various services, such as training, education, advocacy, and promotion.

One of the most notable achievements of the NFFF is the publication of the Fish Friers Review, the official magazine of the federation. The first issue of the Fish Friers Review was published in 1925, and it has been providing valuable information and news to the fish and chip sector ever since. The Fish Friers Review has documented the history of the NFFF and challenges that have faced the fish and chip industry during the tough times of World War II.

The Fish Friers Review also had vast coverage of the potato shortage of 1975/1976. These times serve as an important reminder that the industry has faced many challenges before, and has made it through stronger every time.

The NFFF has also been led by many distinguished presidents over the years, who have contributed to the growth and development of the federation and the industry. We have also accumulated a list of life members over the years, both of which are honoured on the walls of our office.
