NFFF member and Quality Award holding shop ‘The Bay Fish & Chips’ have been crowned ‘2014-2015 Runner Up of The European Business Awards Management Award^ at a ceremony held in Lyon

The Bay Fish & Chip, Stonehaven, continued recent success and to promote the fish and chip industry to all parts of the global by finishing runner of the 2014-2015, European Business Awards Management Award, at the Pollutec exhibition of environmental technologies in Lyon, France. The European Business Awards for the Environment are awarded to eco-innovation companies that successfully combine innovation, competitiveness and outstanding environmental performance.

European Commissioner for the Environment Janez Potočnik said: "The companies shortlisted for the European Business Awards for the Environment have a proven track record in combining business success and respect for the environment. They showcase real-world experience of the fruits of eco-innovation.”

Since opening in 2006, owners Calum and Lindsay Richardson have aspired to create a business that offers quality produce in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way and have therefore installed management systems to enable the business to continually improve its contribution to sustainable developments. This approach is reflected in everything from the sourcing to Marine Stewardship Certified haddock, to the use of chemical-free cleaning products and the strict recycling policies in place. The business uses 100% renewable electricity and gas, recycles 100% of food waste and sources 89% of its supplies from within 50 mile radius. The Bay’s oil waste is recycle into biodiesel and all packaging is 100% compostable.
