For people with a food allergy or intolerance, eating out can be a nightmare. Finding a good restaurant which provides dairy and gluten-free alternatives can be like looking for a needle in a haystack.

Which is why the FreeFrom Eating Out Awards were devised. Now in their third year, the shortlist for the 2016 awards shows that although the sector is growing, finding a FreeFrom restaurant in Yorkshire can still be a challenge.

Thankfully for those living in the Craven area of North Yorkshire, Bizzie Lizzie’s, Swadford Street Restaurant and Takeaway in Skipton has been shortlisted for the FreeFrom Eating awards for the second year in a row.

One of only eight independent fish & chip shops to be nominated in the whole of the UK, Bizzie Lizzie’s received a "Highly Commended” award in 2015. And Katie Davison, Bizzie Lizzie’s Marketing Director has high hopes for the 2106 awards:

Best known for their mouth-watering fish and chips – now available both gluten and dairy-free - Bizzie Lizzie’s also offers a wide range of tasty FreeFrom alternatives. Customers with a gluten of dairy intolerance can also choose from starters of homemade soup or prawn cocktail, mains of chilli & chips or jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise and sweetcorn, and dessert of chocolate fudge cake, syrup sponge pudding or caramel apple pie. The winners of the FreeFrom awards 2016 will be announced at a presentation party at3.30pm on Tuesday 22nd November, the first dayof the Food Matters Live event at Excel in London’s Docklands.
