YORKSHIRE CHIPPIE ON COURSE TO NET ITS BIGGEST CATCH OF AWARDS EVER!

Champion chippie Quayside of Whitby has been named Yorkshire and the North East’s best fish and chip takeaway in the 2014 National Fish & Chip Awards – for the third year running – and it’s well on its way to two more national titles!

The family run chip shop has not only been named regional winner in the Seafish ‘Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award’ as part of the 2014 National Fish & Chip Awards for Yorkshire and North East England, but it has also been nominated as a finalist in two other separate categories at the national awards, which celebrate the crème de la crème of Britain’s chip shops.

The top-notch takeaway, run by successive generations of the Fusco family in Whitby for more than 50 years, has also been shortlisted for ‘Independent Restaurant of the Year’ and the ‘Marketing Innovation Award’ in the 2014 awards.

“It’s hard to believe we’ve been nominated for so many awards – and scooped our third consecutive ‘Best in the North East’ title – but I feel sure this is testament to the hard work and passion we have for the job,” says Stuart Fusco, Quayside director and head chef. “Family tradition and attention to detail are the essential ingredients here – that, and the best, fully traceable fish and potatoes – and, over five decades, we’ve taken pride in serving local customers and visitors with our own special-recipe crispy, golden batter and local potatoes fried the traditional way in beef dripping – for which we’ve gathered a loyal following.”

Quayside had to endure a rigorous judging process to scoop the award and will now go on to more judging for the final in London on January 22, 2014, where the overall winners will be announced.
