MULTIPLE FISH AND CHIP OPERATORS ‘FRYING’ TO BE THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS!

Article Date: 2014-10-27

Three of the UK’s leading fish and chip businesses have been shortlisted as finalists in the Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award as part of the 2015 National Fish & Chip Awards, organised by Seafish.

RockFish operating in Plymouth, Dartmouth and Torquay; The Good Catch Fish & Chip Shop with outlets in Liverpool, Flixton, Hale and Freshfield and John Dory’s with establishments across Belfast, Lisburn and Carryduff have been ‘fried and tested’ against each other in a bid to become the ultimate fish frying group winner. The overall winning business group will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Lancaster London Hotel on 20 January 2015.

The Best Multiple Fish and Chip Operator Award recognises fish and chip businesses in the UK with three or more premises. Each of the shortlisted businesses have been assessed on a variety of criteria across their whole business operation including food quality, marketing initiatives, staff training polices, commitment to responsible and sustainable sourcing and consistency across their outlets. A minimum of three outlets, chosen at random by the judges, have been mystery shopped by industry judges.

Award sponsor Martin Brown, Director of Retail and Distribution of Unique Seafood Limited, commented: "We are very proud to be supporting this category once again. As a business that supplies the whole of the UK with dependable and consistently high quality fish, we can appreciate how challenging it can be to juggle the demands of outlets in various locations.

"The awards continue to encourage fish and chip businesses to aim high and strive to be the best whilst raising awareness and standards of the fish frying industry as a whole. The three finalists excelled throughout the judging process and they should be extremely proud of all their hard work. I would like to congratulate the finalists in reaching this stage of the competition and wish them the best of luck for the future.”

Paul Williams, Chief Executive of Seafish, said: "Running three or more premises is a very demanding task that requires an efficient systematic approach. This category aims to reward those businesses that successfully endeavour to ensure standards are maintained across all their establishments.

"The finalists demonstrated a high level of commitment and passion towards their business that has to be admired; their determination to succeed has definitely paid off. I look forward to see who comes out on top as the ultimate winner at the awards ceremony in January next year.”

The National Fish & Chip Awards recognise the quality, value and choice offered by fish and chip businesses across the UK.
