Fish Friers

Join The Bay Fish and Chip shop and others to support the RNLI Fish Supper!

Article Date: 2017-09-22

The National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) are proud partners of the RNLI’s Fish Supper fundraising campaign. RNLI Fish Supper is an annual charity event to raise funds to support the RNLI’s life-saving work. Participants sign up to hold their own Fish Supper for friends and family and collect donations for the RNLI.

Calum Richardson is owner of The Bay in Stonehaven and has been a member of the NFFF for 20 years.

I’m an NFFF assessor for Quality Awards and Training and I also offer advice to aspiring young friers and appear as a speaker at NFFF events for Young Frier of the Year finalists.’

Calum and the team at The Bay have chosen to support RNLI Fish supper this year;

Our customers will respect us for being involved. After purchasing their fish supper and going to the seafront to eat it, they can watch the RNLI in action, heading out to sea to rescue people. It wouldn’t make sense for us not to support them

At The Bay, our passion for local produce and sustainability has put Stonehaven on the food map. The quality and provenance of the ingredients used at The Bay is crucial to our success; The Bay’s white fish comes from Coupers in Aberdeen, the langoustines are sourced from local boats in nearby Gourdon and the lobsters from Stonehaven harbour, just a stone’s throw from The Bay itself.

I support the Stonehaven RNLI on a regular basis through charity events and by having a RNLI charity box on the counter at The Bay. A lot of the volunteers are folk I went to school with or parents of friends of mine – it’s a real community project. ‘

‘We’re one of the many NFFF fish and chip shops supporting RNLI Fish Supper We need people out there looking after us on the water, not just our fishermen, but anyone who get into trouble out at sea. To offer this service 24/7 they need our funds and support’

Not everyone is able to host their own Fish Supper event at home and others may want to save on the washing up and dine out! This is where your frying skills come in. The event is a fun way to encourage customers into your shop bringing friends and family together to enjoy a great meal provided by you, inspired by the sea - and while raising money for a great cause.

We’ll make sure you have everything you need and we’ll send you a fundraising pack when you sign up that that has bunting, posters and collection boxes, bringing Fish Supper to your shop.

Sign up today to get involved and make a real difference.
