Godwins of Penwortham Chip-pea Bath Day

On Sunday the 1st of June Godwins of Penwortham, near Preston, teamed up with their neighbouring pub to hold a weekend of charity events to raise money for St Catherine^s Hospice in Lotock Hall.  Godwins held the event in memory of Pat Johnson, who ran the shop for many years, and the shop is still owned by Pat^s family.

The weekend started with a charity quiz night in the Black Bull pub on the friday night, followed by a beach party on the saturday.  The sunday saw the pub carpark turned into an outdoor fish and chip party, with live entertainment.

V.A.Whitleys, Hollands, Wilson^s Sausages and Triple F Chips all donated products to help support the day which raised in excess of £2,500. Customers could choose from a menu of Fish and Chips at £2.50, and Sausage and Chips or Pudding and Chips for just £2.. with all proceeds going to the Hospice.

Throughout the day members of the family and other staff took turns sitting in a bath of chips and peas and collected money outside the shop.

It was great to see so many people enjoying tradittional chippy fayre in the sunshine and all for a great cause!
