Frankie^s new digital menus

Article Date: 2014-04-09

Frankie’s Fish & Chips has installed digital menus in its award-winning takeaway and café to keep customers right up to date with what’s on offer.

A bank of three screens has been erected above the counter providing the full takeaway menu, including pictures of some of the dishes available.

Two of the screens show the breakfast menu in the mornings and then switch to the lunchtime and evening options, including the full mussels menu.

A separate screen located next to the seating area where customers wait for their takeaways shows the daily specials.

And a third screen on the wall of the café gives customers a round-up of the daily sit-in specials as well as a picture of the local fishing boat which landed that day’s catch of fresh fish.

The menus give staff at the shop in Brae, Shetland, greater flexibility, according to manager John Gold.

"Using the software in the back shop, we can alter the menus easily,” he said. "It means we can put up the full breakfast menu in the mornings and then switch to the lunchtime and evening menu later. We can put up the daily specials both in the café and the takeaway waiting area. The technology gives us much greater flexibility.”

Frankie’s Fish & Chips is Britain’s most northerly fish and chip shop and was named best in Scotland and second best in the UK in the 2014 National Fish & Chip Awards.
