Fishermen’s Mission Annual General Meeting

Addressed by Richard Benyon MP, Minister for Natural Environment and Fisheries 

National Charity, the Fishermen’s Mission, held their 127th Annual General Meeting at Trinity House, London on 16th April 2013. Among the eighty five guests were leaders from maritime charities and associations, corporate supporters, friends and associates of the Fishermen’s Mission. Also present was Richard Benyon MP, Minister for Natural Environment and Fisheries. Mr Benyon addressed the meeting and presented the awards to the winners of the Fundraising and Volunteer Awards 2012.

Fisheries Minister, Richard Benyon said, “It was a privilege to be able to present the fund raising awards to the well-deserved recipients at this year’s Fishermen’s Mission AGM. The Fishermen’s Mission is truly unique and the excellent work it does makes a real difference to the lives of many. I applaud all those associated with the work of the Mission and wish it continued success.”

David Dickens, Chief Executive of the Fishermen’s Mission said, ‘This has been a year of continued progress for the Fishermen’s Mission. We have developed our centres and created or refurbished our mini centres where appropriate. We will continue to ensure our vital services are always available where they are needed most.’

‘As always we remain deeply indebted to all our friends, volunteers and supporters.  Without them our work would not be able to continue’.

The highly prestigious, Stanley Pritchard Award for service to the Fishermen’s Mission was awarded to Peter Convery for his tireless work, stalwart support and friendship during his many years of voluntary service. 

Peter Convery said, ‘It is a great pleasure to be awarded the Stanley Prichard Award. From the very early days of the Troon Mission it has been a real privilege to bring care and support to Fishermen of various nationalities.’
