Nine fish and chip shops sold fish and chips at bargain prices and took part in a range of different fundraising activities on Wednesday 12 September to raise money for Help for Heroes.

The Bay Fish & Chips, The Crispy Cod, Quayside, The Big Fish, Linfords Traditional Fish & Chips, Seafare Fish & Chips, Wigmore Fish & Chips, and Peck-ish Fish and Chips are shortlisted for the same award in 2013.

Help for Heroes is one of the official charities for the National Fish & Chip Awards 2013. The fundraiser took place as the nation^s finest fish and chip outlets vie to become the best in Britain.

Highlights of the Help for Heroes day included sponsored ‘batter baths,^ military men on location to sell fish and chips to the public, face painting and raffles including lots of prizes on offer from free food to flying lessons – no stone was left unturned by the eager business owners helping to raise funds for the charity.

The results for 2013 will not be announced until the finalists head to London on 24 January 2013, and enjoy a night of awards and entertainment at the prestigious Lancaster London hotel.

2013 marks a special year for the awards as they celebrate their 25th anniversary, promising to make the final event even more special and the judging team determined to find a worthy winner. It was this milestone that spurred the team at Seafish to help organise the Help for Heroes fundraiser across the UK.

Nikki Hawkins, foodservice and events manager at Seafish, said: "2012 will be remembered as recognising what makes Britain ‘British^ - from celebrating the Royal Diamond Jubilee to the UK^s phenomenal success at both the Olympics and Paralympics. We are honoured to support Help for Heroes to recognise the sacrifice our British service men and women make for our country.

"Seafish are proud of the fish and chip shops that took part in the fundraising day and as a result of the employees and business owner^s effort and positivity, they helped us raise some fantastic funds for Help for Heroes.”
