Fish Friers

Elite finalist in Red Ribbon Awards

Article Date: 2014-04-09

The Elite Fish and Chip Company have been chosen as a Finalist in the Corporate and Social Responsibility category for the National Red Ribbon Awards 2014.

The Red Ribbon Awards recognise Britain’s thriving family business sector and sees the 5th annual Red Ribbon Awards come to life as many of the UK’s most exciting and thriving family-run businesses are recognised for their contribution to the British economy. The Red Ribbon Awards Ceremony will be taking place on 20th June at the spectacular Goldsmiths’ Hall in London, where guests at the Awards will be treated to a magical night of fine dining, world-class entertainment and a charity auction with money-can’t-buy prizes.

Founder of the Awards, Anita Brightley-Hodges, says, "For us, it’s about making family businesses feel a million dollars. They contribute such a huge amount to the economy, not to mention providing millions of jobs and supporting local communities and charities. The Red Ribbon Awards are the only accolade which put every family business on a level playing field. It’s not about turnover or industry, it’s about the fantastic achievements of individuals and their family firms."

Previous winners of the prestigious Red Ribbon Awards include Michel Roux Jr, The Cambridge Satchel Company and East End Foods.

The business was praised by the Awards:

"I^m delighted to have been involved with the Elite Fish and Chips 25th Anniversary fund-raising bonanza. They had a target of raising £25,000 for charity and they completely smashed their target. They are a great example of how family businesses who have been supported by the local community whilst they grow can give back and make a real difference. A huge achievement for one small business but one which will make an enormous difference to their chosen charities".

Adrian Tweedale owner of the Elite commented, "Although this nomination is an amazing achievement for the Elite and the recognition is well deserved by all our wonderful staff, it^s all the support from our customers that made the 25th Anniversary year for us such a success.”
