Bravo! Elite is NK Community Champion

Article Date: 2015-09-15

The Elite Fish and Chip Company has won the Community Business Award in the 2015 North Kesteven District Council Community Champion Awards for its charity fundraising initiatives.

The kind-hearted company received the award from North Kesteven District Council Deputy Leader Cllr Mike Gallagher and Lincs FM Presenter John Marshall at The Venue in Navenby on Thursday 10th September.

Elite was nominated in the Community Business category by the 3rd Sleaford (St. Deny’s) Scout Group to recognise the fish and chip company’s fundraising for the refurbishment of the scout group’s headquarters. In June, staff from Elite attended the scout group’s family BBQ and AGM and were presented with a framed letter of thanks from Chief Scout, Bear Grylls and were also made honorary scout group members.

Helen Zealand, from the Sleaford Scout Group, said: "We are massively proud that our nominees and friends at Elite have won the Community Business Award.

"Cubs have a way of saying well done: they shout BRAVO! Bravo to all at The Elite Fish and Chip Company. We thank them for their commitment to charity over the years.”

Rachel Tweedale, Manager of The Elite Fish and Chip Company’s Sleaford restaurant and takeaway, said: "We want to thank Sleaford Scout Group for nominating us and we are so thrilled to have won.

"We would also like to thank our customers who have always supported us, we are proud to be part of such an amazing community. To all at The Elite Fish and Chip Company, thank you for all of your hard work, you do a cracking job and should all be congratulated for playing your part in winning this award.”

The NK Community Business Award tops a super year for The Elite Fish and Chip Company whose charitable work was also recognised with a Commended for Excellence Award in the Best of British category at the prestigious Family Business Place Red Ribbon Awards in July.

Last year, the company won the Red Ribbon Corporate Social Responsibility Award for its efforts in raising more than £27,000 during 2013 across five local charities: Sleaford Scout Group, St Barnabas Lincolnshire Hospice, Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Service (LIVES), Kids Strut, and RNLI Skegness Lifeboat.

The NK Community Champion Awards is an annual event run by North Kesteven District Council.

North Kesteven District Council Deputy Leader Cllr Mike Gallagher said: "We are very proud to make these awards annually in recognition of all the hard work carried out unstintingly and tirelessly in order to make a difference to the lives of others.”
