Fish Friers

Belfast^s AFBI to uncover some fishy facts

Article Date: 2013-05-24

How many prawns are there in the Irish Sea? And how do you know how old a fish is?

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) stand at the Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival aims to provide the answers to these and many more questions!

AFBI experts will be on hand with a varied and exciting display of marine science, helping members of the public understand the sea and what lives in it.

"We will show you how our scientists collect the information that helps protect our complex marine ecosystems and thus conserve our marine resources for future generations," said the AFBI.

"On the AFBI stand you can see some of the high technology equipment that marine scientists use to study the depths of the ocean and what lives there and we might even have some live fish that you may not have seen before."

Belfast City Council will be holding the maritime-themed family fun weekend on the Belfast quaysides and around the harbour at Abercorn Basin and Titanic Belfast Plaza from Saturday May 25 to Monday May 27 2013.
