Award Winning Whitley’s Batter and Gravy

Whitley’s Pulse ‘Gluten Free’ Batter Flour and Vincent’s Gravy Mix scooped awards at the CCM Chefs’ Own-Brand Awards. Cash & Carry Management, in partnership with the Craft Guild of Chefs, recently announced the winners of its inaugural CCM Chefs’ Own-Brand Awards at a prestigious lunch at Westminster Kingsway College, London. CCM wanted to show that private own labels are just as good, and in many cases far better, than the big global brands.

Pulse Batter Flour won the Gluten Free Category and was hailed as ‘a truly remarkable product’. The team tried several ways to test the product to its fullest - even coating a really greasy sausage. They were staggered to see that Pulse remained crispy, dry and tasty! They commented "Why on earth wouldn’t a Fish & Chip Shop just use Pulse? It’s a fantastic batter and they would have the advantage of being Gluten Free all of the time! 

Our Vincent’s Gravy Mix won the Gravy & Stocks category and whilst presenting the trophy the Head of The Guild said, "Of all the many products I have tasted, Vincent’s stood out because it is just like an old fashioned, proper, traditional Gravy!!”

The Judges feed­back stated - "Not greasy at all. Very crisp and Light. A real nice crunch. A very good solution to Gluten Free, didn’t hold the grease at all. Brilliant, quite impressive bit of Innovation.” Vincent’s Gravy Mix.

The Judges feedback stated - "Like a traditional Gravy. Nice colour and Fla­vour. Got a bit of Depth. We like the packaging. Not your run-of-the-mill Instant Gravy
