MSC BLUE LABEL JOINS T. QUALITY’S BLUE FISH

T. Quality, one of the UK’s leading fish and chip shop suppliers, is adding MSC certified fish to its menu choices. The supplier is one of the industry’s largest, with over 5,000 clients and opens up the possibility of MSC certified fish to a large portion of the UK fish and chip shops.

T. Quality has been supplying the UK fish and chip industry for over 80 years, originally based in Swindon but now with depots all over England and southern Wales. MSC certified fish is the latest in a long line of products reflecting the needs of T. Quality customers from frozen foods, kebabs and burgers through to frozen at sea fish.

Responding to customer demand

David Ross, T. Quality Managing Director explains: “The important aspect for us as a business is that the MSC certification formally demonstrates this higher commitment to sustainability. Our customers are demanding a product with the MSC brand to pass on to their customers seeking the trust mark of a sustainably sourced product.”

The new MSC certified cod and haddock lines come from fisheries in the Norwegian North East Arctic and Barents seas, fisheries that T. Quality has sourced from for 40 years. They include Ramoen and Atlantika brands.

Ruth Westcott, Foodservice Outreach Manager at the MSC says: “This is a fantastic move from T. Quality. As a result of their actions, many more Fish & Chip shops across the UK will be able to enjoy MSC certified cod and haddock safe in the knowledge that they are playing a part in the global solution to the problems caused by unsustainable seafood practices. Fish and chips are the heart and soul of fish eating in the UK. Offering customers MSC certified cod and haddock enables future generations to continue to enjoy a sustainable fish supper.”
