For 2026, the National Fish & Chip Awards are proud to relaunch one of our most inspiring categories – the Fish and Chip Industry Employee of the Year Award.
This year marks a major change. Previously limited to those working within fish and chip shops, the award is now open to all employees across the industry. That means suppliers, service providers, mobile operators, and restaurant and takeaway teams can now be recognised for the vital role they play in keeping Britain’s favourite dish thriving.
Why the change?
Our industry is built on more than just the people who serve at the counter or fry the fish. Behind every portion of fish and chips there are dedicated individuals across the supply chain – from processors and distributors to marketing, training, and support services – who work tirelessly to deliver quality, innovation, and community spirit. By opening the award more widely, we can shine a light on the people whose efforts often go unseen but are no less important.
What we’re looking for
The judges want to hear about employees who have gone above and beyond in the last 12 months. That might include:
- Delivering exceptional customer service
- Driving innovation in their role
- Showing leadership and teamwork
- Living company values and culture
- Making a positive impact in the local community
Who can be nominated?
Any employee working in a UK business connected to the fish and chip industry (excluding the Channel Islands and Isle of Man). For non-fish and chip operators, the category is not open to those at Director level or above.

The judging process
An industry panel will review and score all entries. Shortlisted nominees will be invited to a Zoom interview on 11 November. The overall winner will then be announced on stage at the national awards ceremony in London on the 26th February 2026.
