Meeting with Lucy Rigby MP – Economic Secretary to the Treasury

The NFFF welcomes this motion as a positive step towards addressing the significant challenges facing the UK hospitality sector.
Fish and chip shops and other hospitality businesses continue to face mounting operating costs, putting pressure on business viability, investment and jobs. A fairer VAT regime would provide much-needed support, helping businesses remain sustainable, protect employment and continue making a valuable contribution to local communities and economies.
The hospitality sector’s concerns around VAT can no longer be ignored. Meaningful reform is needed to create a fairer trading environment, encourage growth and investment, and secure the future of an industry that plays such an important role in communities across the UK.
We urge the Government to take these concerns seriously and recognise that reducing VAT could make a real difference to businesses, their employees and the customers they serve.
